The short version: your data is there to power your own fuel planning and logbook. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

FuelPilot ("the app") is a fuel planning, navigation and trip-logging app made by David Kulagin ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app collects, why, where it goes, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Account information
Your email address, an optional display name and an optional profile photo, used to create and secure your account.
Location
Your device's precise location, used while the app is open to show the map, find fuel prices along your route, give turn-by-turn directions and keep your trip log.
While you navigate, the app records the GPS path of your drive so your trip history can show the route you took, the distance and, if you export an IFTA report, miles per state.
If you allow it, navigation keeps receiving your location while the screen is off or you're in another app, so directions and your trip log keep working. On iPhone this is the "Always" location setting; on Android a notification shows while it runs. This only happens during active navigation and stops when you end the drive. FuelPilot doesn't collect your location when you aren't navigating and the app is closed.
Trips
Origin, destination, route path, distance, duration, fuel use estimates, stops, breaks, and any notes or business and personal tags you add. Trips are recorded automatically when you navigate, and you can delete any trip at any time.
Fuel receipts
If you scan a receipt, we collect the photo you take and the details read from it (station, total, gallons, price and date), plus the location where you scanned it, which records the state the fuel was bought in for IFTA. Receipt photos are stored privately in your account.
Vehicle data
Vehicle details you enter, such as year, make, model and tank size. If you connect an OBD-II adapter over Bluetooth, the app also reads live vehicle data such as fuel level and fuel rate, which it uses to estimate range and learn your real MPG. Bluetooth is used only to talk to your adapter.
Settings
Preferences such as units, theme and Autopilot settings, stored on your phone, with your account, or both. Your sign-in session is kept in your phone's secure storage (the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).
Purchases
If you subscribe to FuelPilot Pro, Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) handles the payment, and we never see your card or payment details. We receive your subscription status (plan, free trial, renewal and expiry dates) so the app knows which features to unlock.
We do not collect contacts, messages, browsing history or advertising identifiers, and we don't collect any data for advertising or tracking.
How it's used
Everything we collect is used to run the app's features: navigation and fuel stop planning, your trip logbook and statistics, receipt records, tax-time exports (mileage logs, expense reports and IFTA summaries) and MPG learning. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers or use it for marketing.
Services we use
FuelPilot relies on a small number of service providers that process data on our behalf. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job.
- Supabase runs our database, sign-in and file storage. Your account, trips, receipts and vehicle data are stored there, protected by rules that let only your account read your records.
- Apple Maps (iPhone) shows the map, place search and routes. Your search text, your location and the places you navigate between are sent to Apple to show results and work out routes.
- Mapbox (Android) shows the map, place search and routes. Your search text, your location and the places you navigate between are sent to Mapbox to show results and work out routes.
- HERE Technologies provides fuel prices. Points along your planned route, or your current location for "cheapest nearby", are sent through our server to HERE to find stations and prices. HERE doesn't receive your name, email or account details.
- RevenueCat manages subscriptions. Your FuelPilot account ID (a random identifier, not your email) and your App Store or Google Play purchase records for FuelPilot are shared with RevenueCat to confirm and keep track of your FuelPilot Pro subscription.
- U.S. National Weather Service provides the weather shown on the map. Your approximate location is sent to its weather service.
- U.S. Census Bureau (TIGERweb) is used when you export an IFTA report: points along your trips and receipt locations are checked against official state boundaries to work out miles and fuel per state.
- Anthropic reads receipts (FuelPilot Pro). When you scan a receipt, the photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to read the numbers on it, and it's used only for that. FuelPilot asks for your permission before the first scan, and you can turn photo reading off at any time in Settings, under Receipts. You then type the details in yourself.
When you export a report, the file is saved to private storage in your account and shared through a private download link that expires after 24 hours. Exported files are deleted when you delete your account.
Keeping and deleting data
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete individual trips and receipts in the app at any time.
You can delete your whole account in the app, in Settings › Profile › Delete account. This permanently removes your account and everything in it from our servers (vehicles, trips, receipts, receipt photos, exports, your profile photo and preferences) and clears it from your phone. Deletion is immediate and can't be undone. If you can't get into the app, you can ask us to delete your account by email; see Delete your account.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a FuelPilot Pro subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Apple or Google, and RevenueCat, keep records of FuelPilot Pro purchases as needed for billing, refunds and tax.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with per-user access rules, so your records can only be read by your signed-in account. Receipt photos and exports are kept in private storage that only your account can open.
Children
FuelPilot is a driving app and isn't directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age where you live). We don't knowingly collect data from children.
This website
fuelpilotapp.com doesn't use cookies, analytics or trackers, and it doesn't load anything from other websites. It's hosted on GitHub Pages, which logs visitors' IP addresses for security; see GitHub's note on data collection.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page and mention the change in the app's release notes.
